This is to help a young family (husband 34 and wife 28) with no children. the young wife is diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma two years ago, a month after they got their refugee status to come to US. She is under treatment at Fairfax Hospital right now for her second round of radiations before her bone marrow transplant. The family has medicaid through the county which will end by November. They have out reached to different cancer societies and got little help ( a $50 gas voucher for transportation to doctors and a $100 cash from cancer care and can not apply again for next 12 months)
Here are the immediate needs:
- The husband had herniated disk and had to stay home for 2 months and could not afford to finish the 20 sessions therapy prescribed for him after than 10 sessions ( couldn’t pay the $30 co-pay amount for each session) so he still has the problem and since he is a driver for a hotel he suffers everyday.
- The family is living in a basement with no windows and no kitchen; they can use the kitchen upstairs but she never had a chance to cook since she got sick. The landlord has given them a notice to leave since he wants to sell the townhouse.
- The payment for rent is exctly half of their income; she was let go soon after her sickness from her job.
- With their income they barely make the living and they have not been able to find any apt. Since:
Ø They can not find a co-signer and bacuse of low credit can not rent
Ø They are in waiting list for low income housing in Fairfax but since have no kids they are not priority
Ø They could not find any place with same amount they are paying right now ( eventhough the current basement is not suitable for a discent living)
Please help with by donating to:
- fund the doctor visits (copay) for him to get treatment until fully recovery or refere to a physician who can help
- help them search/fund for a suitable housing
- both used to do photography and filming at the weddings and event in Iran; so if you can refer them to someone with same type of specialties to help...
